Public Library WV.975.431 McIntyre). OLEY OLSTEN OLDHAM (27 Nov 1864-24 April 1936) Funeral services for Oley O. Oldham, 71 years old, were held at his home in Ripley last Sunday afternoon with Rev. J.R. Withrow of the Epworth church in charge and the body was taken to the Otterbein cemetery for burial. Mr. Oldham died last Friday evening at 7 o'clock after being critically ill for a week as the result of a stroke which he suffered while at work in his business extablishment on Church Street. There was little hope entertained for his recovery from the beginning. He was a native of Jackson County and for many years lived on Parchment where he engaged in farming and merchandising. A number of years ago he sold his interest there anbd came to Ripley where he had since engaged in the feed, produce and livestock business and had been quite successful. He had been in poor health for the past two or three years but his condition was thought to be much improved, up until the time of the stroke. At the funeral Sunday it was pointed out that Mrs. Oldham was from a family of six sisters. Five of the sisters married and all five are now widows. Oley Olsten Oldham, son of William and Elizabeth Oldham, was born November 27, 1864 and passed away April 24, 1936 at his home in Ripley, age 71 years, 4 months, and 27 days. He was united in marriage to Adelia Casto on March 17, (sorry, this is all I have you can get the rest from the library, I only copied one page that had my family info on it). Public Library WV.975.431 McIntyre). JOHN F. NESSELROADE A long illness proved fatal to John F. Nesselroade, well known farmer of Sherman, last Friday morning at 11:15 o'clock. Death had been expected members of the family said. He was 64 years old. Three years ago, Mr. Nesselroade was taken over by illness and as time went on his condition became no better and for some weeks past, reports had been coming from his neighbors that his condition was gradually becoming worse, in their opinion, and this idea was shared by members of his family. He was well known citizen of that section of the county and was a devout member of the Baptist church and had been for a number of years. He held membership in the Ravenswood church of which he was a member, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and burial was in the Ravenswood cemetery. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Mae Nesselroade: one daughter, Mrs. Omer C. Snider, of Parkersburg; two sons, Otho L. Nesselroad, of Baytown, Texas, and Vernon, at home; two grandsons, John and Jack Nessleroade, of Baytown, Texas. (20 Nov. 1936). I hope this is a help to someone.

Sponagle, b. 12/30/1883. He married Roxie Ann Graham in June 1904 in Jackson County. She was the daughter of Perry Graham and Cynthia Anna Canter. William married Iva Marie Russell following Roxie's death in Sept. 1926. I keep running into brick walls on him. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I recently purchased the book entitled, "Jackson County Past & Present 1990," at the Library in Ripley, WV. I know this is 10 years after the fact, but I would like to correspond with Gregory Louis Kessel, who submitted the bio of Calvin West ROWLEY that is printed on page 399-400 of the book, or any other researcher of the Jackson County ROWLEYs. I am descended from Calvin's sister who is described in the bio as an "older sister that married a Mr. Huffman." I am a volunteer in the Jackson County Library, Ripley Branch, Ripley WV 25271. I am NOT so far as I know related to any Mericals. I am interested in Maps and the location of Graveyards which is how I got into the discussion on the location of Merical Run and Merical Hollow--The discussion is unresolved until someone goes out there and quizes people about it. I can't offer you any Merical family insights-not my family, as I mentioned above. I can offer some assistance but I do not know the scope of the problem. There are at least two other people involved in researching this family, one of which has already responded to this series of questions above. Might be a good idea to hook up with that lady. Some simple look-up information can be offered: births, deaths, marriages. Can you pose a question or two to get started? And offer some information? Hi Ralph (and everyone on the lists copied). Understand your responsible for the Kanawha Co. NEALs on the Kanawha Co. rootsweb list. Would you have any info on a Samuel (L.?) NEAL in the 1810 VA Census in Kanawha Co. (15 17 Neal, Samuel 3 0 0 1 0 0 3 1 1 0 0 0) with the data showing he was in the 26-45 age range and his 3 sons in the 0-10 age range. I believe one of his Sons was a Samuel T. NEAL that married a Sarah FISHER in Kanawha Co.(the area that became Jackson Co. in 1831) in 1829. I believe Samuel L. owned a 400 acre piece of Property called the NEAL plantation that was sold to my GGG Grandfather, Thomas HUFFMAN (and his Son John Stuart HUFFMAN), in 1842 in Jackson Co. He was a native of Jackson County,WV and a three-month resident of Orrville, a graduate of Glenville State College & Marshal University. He was a retired educator, principal & former school superintendent in Jackson County schools & a former Kanawha County School principal with 42 years of service, a former Kanawha Valley real estate agent, a member of First Presbyterian Church,Nitro & a veteran of WWII. Also surviving: daughter, Brenda White of Williamburg, Va.; step-daughter, Nancy Nease of Poca,WV; step-sons,John Hastings of Tampa, Fla., Dick Hastings of South Carolina; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 am Friday at Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro with the Rev. Kenneth King officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery, Kentuck,WV. I have John Barnett as the son of William Barnett b. 1775 in Botetourt Co., Virginia and d.6/6/1857 in Mason County. William was married twice. First to Mary McGuire ( who is John's mother) and second to Elizabeth "Betsy" Allen. John's mother, Mary McGuire, was the daughter of John McGuire and Elizabeth Cottle. John Barnett b. 1806 d. 1880 married Mary Mahala See b.1815 d. 1882. Mary Mahala was the daughter of William See and Sarah Pruitt.They had the following children: Caroline, Daisy, Joshua, Mahala Jane, Samuel, Sarah, Mary A., Wm., James T., Robert C., Nancy, Columbus and Augusta. John Barnett and his family were primarily from Mason County but I know that one of his son, James T., married in Jackson County, West Virginia.
