My g-g-grandfather was Zeddock Greathouse, born 1820 in Harrison County but in Jackson County by 1860. He married Sarah/Susan Mason. Thier daughter Emmaline maried William H Powell and moved down into Mason County. William & Emmaline's daughter Amanda Jane married George T. Plants. George & Amanda were the parents of Nina who married my grandpa Ernest Riffle. Zeddock seems to hae left Jackson Co. when his wife died. The children were "farmed" out, got married or just left the area. Still have a lot of work to do on this line, but Zeddock is a son of Michael Greathouse and then the line is pretty well established. Not familiar real quickly with your John but there must have been a couple dozen Johns; Long John, Preacher John & Prophet John come to mind. Thanks for the response, Don

Our Phebe Casto's must be close cousins. My husband's Step great-grandmother was Ida Mandy Greathouse, daughter of George Greathouse and Sarah Slaughter of Jackson Co, WV. Ida Mandy Greathouse married James L. Straight of Roane Co., WV, after his first wife, Anna Gough died in 1892. Phoebe Casto was born about 1831 in what is now Jackson Co. She maried Leonard Green, myg-g-grandfather 5-12-1848 in Jackson Co. She died 2-26-1878 in Jackson co. and is buried there somewhere. The Coleman was not blood kin if I remember right. He was an illigitimate child or an orphan or something like that. Check these posting for Coleman. There was a good bit of talk sometime in 2000 I think. I have a little more on Phoebe & Leonard if you would want it, it sounds like you want to catch up with the Coleman researchers. Don
