I'd say you have two options. Since Alice seems to be about the right age to have been the Ella, age 17 who was married in 1883, and she has no sister, Ella, listed in either census, you can "assume" she is Ella Alice, especially if you are sure William Henry Horner is the right man --- or you can look in Meigs Co to see if there is a better match. However, I don't find a girl of the right age in the 1870 Meigs Co census to be her. 1860 Meigs Co census shows John and family and Palmyra and her family are on the 1860 Jackson Co census - would you like that info? I have found my grandfathers parents but none of his family history and I am having a slight problem with his wife. William Henry Horner married Ella Neff 10/28/1883 On my grandfathers birth records, and his brother and sister the mothers name is Alice. My question is: Would Alice and Ella be the same person: such as Alice Ella Neff or Ella Alice Neff? I cannot find any records on her at all, other than her birth county was Jackson County, West Virginia and that was in Jackson County Marriages (1880-1900). Can someone put me in the right direction? I have struggled with Melissa & David for quite a while. There are so many David Castoes in Jackson County. And not only did Leonard have a sister Melissa but he married an Elizabeth Jane Parsons who was also known as Melissa Green in some listings for some reason but he also had a daughter that was listed as Melissa or Jemima on ocassions or may have actually been a Melissa and a Jemima, I am still trying to figure out which. I may as well ask again for any info that anyone has on Lenny(Leonard?) F. Greene born about 1880 in Jackson Co., married Estella King 10-1-1901 in Mason County. Divorced by 1910. I think that Lenny died in the 1940s in Fayette Co. but haven't confirmed.

Queries and came upon yours. As I mentioned to you last year, I found Pheobe Casto who was married to Leonard Green in the Jackson Co. Registered Death Index. She was born 1830 and died 1878 at Grass Lick. You also had her mother listed as Zolpha Slaughter which is incorrect. Her parents were my gggrandparents, Abram and Zolpha Carpenter Casto. I recently found a poem about a murder that took place in Jackson County on Nov. 3, 1897. Those killed were Jimmy Green, his half-sister 'Tilda, last name not given, and his mother. Injured was Alice Pfost, also a half-sister to Jimmy Green. The murderer was John Morgan. The poem was written by my great-great-grandfather, Calvin Luther Hatcher, and was in a stack of his writings I am beginning to sort.
