He was born in Mason County on April 25, 1899, the son of the late George Henry and Etta Boyer Barr. He was the grandson of John William Henry and Mary Martha Rayburn Barr. He was a retired C&O employee, a farmer, and a rural mail carrier. He was united in marriage with Blanche Rogers on December 22, 1917. To this union were born ten children: Dencil Herbert Barr, Silas Barr, Charles, Wilma A. Barr, Paul Barr, Saul Barr, Phillis M. Barr, Trilby Barr, Ervin L. Barr, Silvia M. Barr. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Silas Barr, Charles Barr, Saul Barr; a number of brothers and sisters. He is survived by four daughters; Mrs. Phillis Wheeler of Leon, Miss Wilma Barr, Mrs. Trilby Minton, and Mrs. Silvia Shinn of Columbus; three brothers, Erwin L. of Evans, Paul and Dencil of Columbus, Ohio; as sister Mrs. Alpina Stone of Columbus; brother Floyd Barr of Marian, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services were held Friday at 1:20 p.m. at the Longview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond Fife officiating. Burial was at the Longview Cemetery. The Casto Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Born April 2nd, 1834 at Morris Cross Roads in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Alexander Allen and Katherine Crow Dunham. He was the grandson of Elisha and Elizabeth Anderson Dunham and of Michael and Hanna Huhn Crow. On December 26, 1870, he was united in marriage with Sarah Francis Barr daughter of John Henry "William" and Mary Martha Rayburn Barr. Nine children were born to this union. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Allen Dunham, and Jesse Bailey Dunham Jr.. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Alexander Lecke Crow Dunham, Geroge Bierer Dunham, and Carl Dunham; four daughters, Mary Elizabeth "Molly" Hill, Iantha Stone, Iona Miller Sayre, and Malinda Caroline Dunham. Mr. Dunham and his wife were members of the Rockcastle United Brethren Church. He was laid to rest in Big Spruce Cemetery.

Hello - I am seeking information on my ggrandfather Green Berry and my gggranfather Wiley Berry. In the 1920 census I've found Green in District 66 - Washington part of Duff precinct. In the household are the following: Green Berry, age 60-b. 1860; wife Biddie L. Berry, age 24-b. 1896; Sadie Berry, age 15, Gertrude, age 10; Green's brother Jarvis (?), age 46; and grandaughter Neola Jordan, age 2. It is my understanding that Green Berry had three wives - all named Biddy or Biddie. Green also had daughters Bid who married a Burdette and Helen Elizabeth (Lizzie) b. 1904 who married Arthur Shamblin of Middle Fork. Green's father was Wiley A. Berry who shows on the 1870 census data from ancestry.com - no household data. Wiley was in the 7th WVa Cavalry on the Union side. I cannot locate any Berrys in the 1850 Jackson census on the county web page. Also, in the 1920 census I noted an Ader Berry, age 21, with grandparents Aleck L. and Susan A. Jones, both age 63. This migh! t indic ate that one of Green's wives was a Jones. A Delbert Berry, age 14, is shown living with his uncle and aunt Absalom Jordan, age 64, and Sarah E.Jordan, age 60. I suspect that Ader and Delbert are sons of Green as well. They lived on Fisher Ridge in the southern tip of Jackson County. I would appreciate any lookups on the censuses for 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, and 1910. I live in Louisiana and will not be able to go to the archives in Charleston until late July. Thank you. I have that the original Schul was a Balthazer (Balzer or Baltsen) Schul who came from Dusseldorf, Germany, (Hesse), in about 1850. His first wife was Elizabeth Stumpff who was born about 1825. She died in 1875 and is buried somewhere in the Wheeling area. I beleive that Balsten remarried a woman named Louisa Hackerstorp who had a child Lizzie from a previous marriage. Balsten and Elizabeth had the following children. Fredrick or Fredrich Casper Schul b. 1857 Wheeling WV d. 1943 Windield KS Lena Schul b 1861 d 1952 She married Carabin Folmar in Wheeling Wiiliam b 1863 d. 1930 Wheeling WV Edward b 1865 d. 1954 Wheeling WV Tillie or Matilda b 1870 d. 1935 Wheeling WV Baltsen and Louisa had a child Mary born about 1879.
