    3. How convenient, someone just sent me a site on Jackson Smith yesterday under the WV Pioneers site. it has him Marrying Nancy Caroline Ankrum 27 Oct 1839 Jackson Co. WV, I do have him in my files anyway. I have quite a bit on him from the Durst book by Velma Burris, descendants of Christina Roush Durst Smith, mother to Jackson Smith. On that site it lists the census records with him and his wife and kids etc. Jane Boucher. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bette McIntosh" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 04, 2005 3:19 PM Subject: [WVJackson] Marriage Record Look-up > Jackson SMITH to Nancy, ca. 1840s > > Hello Listers, Can anyone help find a marriage for a Jackson SMITH and a Nancy __?__ (possibly BAKER) ca. 1840s in Jackson County, WV? > > On another note, does anyone have information as to how Les Shockey is getting along after his recent surgery and the loss of his mother? 1. Marriage Record Look-up > Jackson SMITH to Nancy, ca. 1840s
    2. Bette McIntosh
    3. Hello Betty, Jane (& Judy), Thanks for looking for the marriage of Jackson SMITH. I see that he did not marry a BAKER. The reason that I asked was because my ancestor, Jacob BAKER, sold Jackson County property to this Jackson SMITH as early as 1843. My hypothesis was that perhaps SMITH's wife, Nancy, who is mentioned in the property deed, was a BAKER... a daughter of Jacob BAKER. No such luck. I am trying to find some mention of either the sons or the daughters of the Jacob BAKER who was present in Mason & Jackson Co. ca. 1820-1846 (per Census records). I am beginning to think that the children of Jacob BAKER removed to other areas, like Ohio or even KY, at about 1830-1840 and therefore no papertrail in either Mason or Jackson Co. BUT, shouldn't there be some marriages recorded? Any body have any ideas along these lines? Bette > Bette, > > I have a Jackson Smith married to Nancy Caroline Ankrum 27 Oct 1839 in > Jackson Co. > > Jackson Co marriage records: > Jackson Smith > Caroline Ankrum > 27 Oct 1839

    3. Bette, In the first few pages of the marriage records, covering 1831-about 1850, there are the following Bakers: Benjamin Charles Elijah Eliza James Katherine Mary Wesley Philip Sylvanus (1853) I have all except Philip and Sylvanus in my database. I think. I'd be happy to give you any you're interested in. Betty Bette McIntosh wrote: > Hello Betty, Jane (& Judy), > Thanks for looking for the marriage of Jackson SMITH. 3. Jane, To me. I own the site. Thanks, I'm pleased with the way it's turned out but there's a lot more to add to it. Was Christina a Roush or a Durst? I found their marriage record in Gallia Co, and she's listed as a Durst, but I have her as a Roush. Do you know Steve Badgley? He sent me a huge Donohue file as well as pictures that I will be uploading when I do my next update. It is so spooky how the same people are being discussed right now, from different direnctions. Whenever that happens, a lot of good new stuff usually comes out of it. Betty Valerie wrote: >Betty , where do you send corrections or info to add to this wv pioneers site?. Its great by the way, just wanted to add Jackson Smiths parents, you have Reuben Smith with a question mark, it is Reuben Smith and Christina Roush Durst. Good site. 1. Looking for a 2004 obit for Jackson County
    2. Hello. I just found out that a dear friend of mine has passed on. Her name was Ilene Winters and she lived in Ripley. She died April 6, 2004. Does anyone have access to the obits at that time? I would love to have a copy of her obit. She used to visit Florida each winter with her husband and she and I would spend much of the time going from library to library doing research. Her husband passed away I believe in 1992 and she only came down a couple of times after that. Would like to have her obit if someone has access to the obits and would email it or scan it for me. Thanks Pat Adkins Riverview Florida
