Surnames: Wilson, Walser, Weisenmiller, Custer, Romine Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WCC.2ACE/4250 Message Board Post: Maybe I missed it, but does anybody have an answer as to why this connection exists for so many families? The reason I ask is I'm still trying to get info on how my mothers parents fit into this. I know my grandmother Eva Lenora Custer was born in Ripley in 1902 and my grandfather John Ernest Walser was born in 1897 in PA, but don't know in what area. They were married in 1922, again, location unknown, but had my mother a year later in Akron Ohio. So I'm trying to figure out how & where the two of them came together. I'm assuming they wound up in Akron because of Goodyear, which is where he worked. Ironically, I think the reason my dad's family wound up in Akron was Goodyear also, as my dad's dad was a tire builder for them. But why was there such a large migration to the Beaver/New Brighton area? Also, I know that my great g-ma Nancy Eliz. Ann Romine (Eva's mom) was born in Ravenswood, then died & was buried in Beaver, and my great g-pa Clarence Richmond Custer was born in Jackson, WV, but the location of his death and buial is unknown. And finally, I know my g-ma's sister, Isabel Gohering, lived and died in the New Brighton/Beaver Falls area, and I believe there is still family there to this day, but I have no contact with them. So if your a Gohering, drop me a line. Or even if not but have any info, I'd love to hear from you too! Finally, and this is just cuz I'm wondering, (no, I won't use "curious") does anyone know who Grace EBNETER from GA or Vernon WILSON from MO is? Both these names keep showing up on a lot of the records I find for both sides of my family. Thanks, George L. Wilson Coral Springs, FL [email protected]

    3. I checked with Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, and they are the "business descendant," for lack of a better way of putting it, of L. T. Thorn Funeral Home. Roush maintains rather sparse records from the mid-1940's on, when it was Chambers Funeral Home. It became Tucker, Straight-Tucker, and eventually Roush, over these past several years. The lady I spoke with at Roush told me that the families that owned the funeral homes over the past years may be the best bet in terms of old records, or that the Jackson County Public Library may have some records of who's buried in which cemeteries. Roush is happy to help with records that they own, the lady told me. I hope this helps. I did have the Catherine Graham information and knew about their children. Supposedly Lucy had helped with those children. I guess the way dates get mixed up can be confusing. I have the court record of Lucy and John's divorce and she was divorced Feb 4, 1881. Is that book available for sale? Thanks for your help. Did you find that Rakes was also spelled Raikes as my grandmother Anna Raikes used? Margaret

I went thru some of my notes yesterday and found a couple of sites you might want to check on Eleanor but I think there is a couple of other sites I have, also. I should get back with you by this weekend. I don't remember any of the sites (other than rootsweb's family trees) listing William Lane as a spouse but they could have as it has been a little while seen I have viewed those sites. Anyway, they might help you to determine if this is the Eleanor you're looking for. Do you have any info on William or Eleanor at all? She was buried in Tyler Co under her maiden name. She was 81 when she died which leads me to think she might have been one of those "unusual" (although I'm finding thru research that they were not so unusual afterall) divorces at that time since she did not go with Samuel to Meigs Co, Ohio. That's why I am not sure if this is the same Eleanor or not as Samuel's wife. Also trying to determine ! that if she were married to William Lane was it before or after Samuel and why was she buried under her maiden name. Wow---do you every wish you could talk to your ancestors for even just an hour. If nothing else I wish I had been interested enough to ask alot of questions when at least some of my great aunts were still around. Char

I am looking for info that is not already on this site--such as the wife and parents of John Smith & where he or his parents were from originally. I have found some info that states that John Smith and his daughter, Eleanor, were from Tyler County rather than from the Ravenswood area. They have her as being married to Samuel Jackson and then to a Lane (rather than Samuel having the second marriage). She also was buried in Tyler Co under her maiden name rather than Jackson or Lane so I'm not sure if this is really the same Eleanor or if someone is just assuming she is and listed her as being married to Samuel.
