It makes sense, Becky, that Elizabeth McGary would be the second wife. Eliza Plant would have been abt 14 when she married which isn't unusual for WV marriages. Altho I couldn't find her death record, I think she is probably the one in the 1850 Census because of her age. In the 1880 Census, a Matilda Laughry is listed as living with William Plant; she is 15y and a servant, and I couldn't find Hirum at all in Harrison Co nor Doddridge. If he married Elzabeth McGary in 1827 she would be only 7 yrs. old. if born in 1813. Perhaps Elizabeth Plant was the first wife and McGary the second.
