Dear Marguerite: Nice to hear from you on the Patton name. Based on your email, I am not sure we are talking about the same Patton family.....but, with the name Patton you just never know. The Pattons that gave land for the Middleville Church and cemetery were descendants of Francis Patton b1742 in wife Ruth Parke. There is a Patton Knob near by. Having said that, there is also a current place called the Patton farm not far from the Church. I talked to a lady of that Patton family and we determined it was a different family. Not sure how long that farm has been in that Patton family. I have done a lot of looking for my Pattons before they came to Harrison Co and there are differences of opinions as to just where they were from. I think I am aware of the other Pattons of Harrison Co because I have collected info on them too and have tried to identify every Patton in early Harrison Co records. Must tell you....I am sure that all the Pattons from the old country got together before they came to America and decided, 1. they would name their kids the same and 2. they would make sure that ALL of them passed thru the same counties before moving on to a final destination.
