Here is the page from Ancestry.com explaining abt the online Census and showing a sample. http://www.ancestry.com/home/celebrate/census.htm If this doesn't work, try http://www.ancestry.com and then click on the info concerning the Census. I'm assuming that anyone can check the sample, whether a member or not. It appears that, even with a current Ancestry.com subscription, there will be an extra "Census" subscription. Ancestry's scanned records are pretty good assuming the original handwriting was clear. I have been using the Civil War Pension Index.
