Thank you. I've been away 4 days, and my emails are in reverse order, so when I asked the question I had not yet read the earlier email--so now I'll plug in David, whom I didn't have before... This is not exactly the same, but I had a 3X-great-grandfather who was baptized (as infant) in PA where his grandparents were while his parents were living in Harrison Co. Actually this wd not be the same time because it was before Revolution. Of course, part of VA became MD in the 1700's some time. Norma
I don't know about 1852, but my grandparents in 1930 went to MD to get married cause she was 14 and didn't need to prove her age in MD. ----- Original Message ----- From: <NSchear@aol.com> To: <WVHARRIS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 17, 2000 8:38 PM Subject: [WVHARRIS] why marry in MD? > If 2 people from Harrison CO.WVA got married around 1852, is there a reason > they would have done so in MD, as opposed to where they and theri family > were from? > > > ==== WVHARRIS Mailing List ==== > Obituary Archives [since 1995] > http://www.rootsweb.com/~obituary/ > > ============================== > Search ALL of RootsWeb's mailing lists in real time. > RootsWeb's Personalized Mailing Lists: > http://pml.rootsweb.com/ > >

Mary, There is probably 2-3 different Wolf/Wolfe lines in Harrison Co. area. If you come across any that researchers refer to as the "Raymond Wolf line" I 'm told this isn't our line, at all....Then their is a Michael Wolf line, again told not ours, and their is a Nicholas Wolf, and don't think he is ours. Their has been alot of speculation on John, first of all "which" John is the brother to David and Peter.. As I guess all the lines have a John for that era. I am leaning to the John that married Elizabeth Tolar-Ireland, as being the brother, I have "no " proof", just speculation. Elizabeth Tolar-Ireland-Wolfe also has the name Rice in with all the others, top of my head can't remember if its Rice-Tolar or Tolar-Rice. She is the MOTHER to the Elizabeth Ireland that married David Perry, son of David and Mary Catherine. Speculation is the 3 brothers came from MD, Washington Co or Frederick Co. And after you go their, you will get more confused, or at least the rest of us did... It is believed that Peter served in the Rev. War, haven't located the records.. David applied for pension but was rejected, only served a month or so. John, I don't know about, as far as Rev. War. Have I really messed you up, now??? That is why I am going to public with any and every clue I have, perhaps together WE ALL can solve this huge brick wall..... 3 brothers, DAVID? PETER?? JOHN??? PARENTS???, BIRTHDATES??? PLACE OF BIRTH??? Their are other Wolfe/Wolf researchers on here, I have seen their posting in the archives, perhaps they have some clues, or process of elimination........ Dee
Mary, to answer your question, about David, Peter and John it is belived they are brothers, I know its confusing, perhaps if you re-read some of these emails, it will start to get clear, I have only been working on them for about a year, and I still get confused ----- Original Message ----- From: Dee Puffer <dpuffer@ddminc.net> To: <WVHARRIS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 16, 2000 10:53 PM Subject: Re: [WVHARRIS] peter wolfe, was Re: surnames-new to list > CORRECTION: Nicholas Carpenter states he is 3 years older than DAVID. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Dee Puffer <dpuffer@ddminc.net> > To: <WVHARRIS-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, July 16, 2000 10:46 PM > Subject: Re: [WVHARRIS] peter wolfe, was Re: surnames-new to list > > > > I have a little on Peter, have been concentrating on David and starting on > > John, these are brothers to Peter. > > I don't have an exact birthdate for any of the brothers or birthplace, it > is > > thought that Peter was born about 1770 in Md. and that he and John are > > older than David. I have Dodd. marriage books, 1845-1937 1900 census Dodd. Deaths 1853-1969, Dodd. Co. I have a report to finish, then getting ready for vacation, I can look-up an item or 2 now," little as possible for the next few weeks", but when I get back from vacation, will be available, non-stop, and perhaps by then my other books will be in. I just want to start giving back, as only a year ago when I first started their were "many" generous souls that did look ups for me and still do. Would like to take the time to thank a few of them, thank you Marion Post, Charlotte Fleming and the late Bill Kiger, just to name a few.
