    3. Denise, My grandparents married in Oakland,Garrett County, MD in the early 1900s. They went there because they didn't have her parents approval to marry (she was 16) and you could marry at 16 there. 1. RE: [WVHARRIS] Wolf/Wolfe lines confusing
    2. Wolfe, Jim (KTR)
    3. Dee, As far as Elizabeth Toler is concerned, the LDS site has Elizabeth married to a Rice, then an Ireland, then to John Wolf. Her father was Cornelius. This is confirmed by an entry in "Harrison County Deed Records, 1785-1810" compiled by David Davis on page 395 (extracted from Deed Book 7, page 174) as follows: John & Elizabeth Wolf, formerly Elizabeth Toler, Isaac & Nancy Hutten, formerly Nancy Toler and Francis Toler heiresses of Cornelius Toler, deceased, of Hardy Co., Virginia grant power of attorney to Matthew Toler, their brother, of Harrison Co., Virginia. Signed John Wolf and Isaac Hutten, Wit: James Pierce, James Williams and Ambrose Updegraff, Hampshire Co., Virginia Clerk: John L. Lehome. Recorded December 1807. I'm also speculating that John's first wife (assuming he only married twice) was named Margaret. This is based on John/Margaret Wolf and John/Elizabeth Wolf having property transactions on Elk Creek. The only other John Wolf I know of at that time was married to Mary, owned land in Hacker's Creek and subsequently moved to Ohio. Other Wolf's in this book are Andrew Wolf, indicated as coming from Bourbon Co., KY; David and Elizabeth Wolf, sold property on Hughes Run, Ten Mile fork, and West Fork River; Jacob Wolf, bought land on Hackers Creek; Michael & Mary Wolf, bought/sold land on Suds Run; and Reece Wolf, bought land on Little Kanawha River. There are also entries for Weaver, Cunningham, Tucker, and Kizer that are related to the Wolf line. 3. My parents traveled to MD to be married. The reason seems to be that there was no waiting period after obtaining the license. I believe WV had a 3-day at that time. I guess that once they made up their minds to "tie the knot" they didn't want anybody changing their minds for them during the waiting period or maybe they just didn't want to wait. 1. [WVHARRIS] Look ups
    2. To anyone I am doing a look up for, I wanted wanted you to know I am working all the look ups with a bit of sucess in cases but If you don't see a post from me for two days it is not that I am not doing them, it is because I am in a motel for three night and four days. The gas lines by our house are over 60 years old and they are working 24-7 putting in new lines. So, since it will be extremely noisy alnight they, the gas company, are paying for us to stay in a brandnew motel on the beach front. The kids are excited. They think we are going on vacation and I guess you could look at it that way. But the cruxt of the matter is, I will take books with me to finish finding and will try to get to my computer during the day. It just depends on how tore up the drive way is. there is only one way in or out. Just worried everyone would think I am not doing it. OH FOR A LAP TOP!!! Cathy D

    1. Re: [WVHARRIS] Fw: [DAVIS ] Helpful hints for headstone photos
    2. I use a little vegetable scrub brush for the dirt and leaves and also I take a box of powder that has a big powder puff and when the letters are hard to determine sometimes dabbing on a little powder makes the contrast between the letters and the stone sharper and easier to read.

    1. Re: [WVHARRIS] why marry in MD?
    2. Funny, everyone is talking about something I have wonderedfor quite awhile. On my great grandparents marriage certificate, which I have the original hanging on my wall, it's huge, they also got married in Maryland. However granny was 18 and gramps was 13 years older. I have always wondered also. In grannies case it wasn't age I don't think unless the minn changed. Who knows from then till now. ( Maybe they were on vacation. HA!HA!)
