Thanks everyone for posting the address of the above. From all your wonderful postings I should have no trouble finding just where I want to go. Thanks again, I am really looking forward to my trip and having the opportunity to do some research first hand. Hopefully I will have something to share with everyone when I get back. Thanks again, Sharon in Albuquerque, NM
Hi Sharon, When we were there, I checked at the Clarksburg library first and they said that they don't have any genealogical records there and sent me over to Waldomore. Be sure and ask someone how to get up to the second floor of Waldomore. It's a side door and I had trouble finding it. Good luck with your research and have a wonderful time! ============================================================ Researching: Gates/Goetz, Harman, Bauder, Gutmann, Zuelsdorf, Robey, Wheelright; Wade; Custer/Kuster, Umbach, Hornbrook, Davis, Dent, Griffin, Allen, Bradstreet, Dudley, Loofbourrow/Loofborough, Harbert, Lockwood, Steenrod; Ogden
Hi Sharon, The Harrison County Genealogical Society is located in Clarksburg which also houses the Harrison/Clarksburg Public Library. Their address is 404 W. Pike St., Clarksburg, W.V. 26301 (304) 627-2236. I called someone at the Library a few days ago and they gave me this address. As far as I know, they would have records for Clarksburg also. You might want to call before you go. I'm including a pic of the house from the Harrison County Web Site. Vickey Officers:
Their mailing address is a P.O.Box, but they are in the 2nd floor of the Waldamore .This is on Pike Street beside the Clarksburg Public Library.Pike St. is one-way west through Clarksburg. Ed Nutter
Hi Sharon, The location of Waldomore, the old mansion which houses the Harrison Co Genealogical Society, is to the right of 404 West Pike St., the Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library. Free parking is available behind the main library accessed through Library Lane, less than half a city block west of the buildings. Pike St. is one-way, so you'll drive past them and turn right onto Library Lane. Hours for Waldomore tomorrow are 9-3 with lunch-closing from 12-1. Good hunting! Patti
Can someone give me the physical address of the Historical/Genealogical Society located in Clarksburg, WV. I am going there tomorrow and would like to visit them. Thanks. Sharon

Dear List, This was sent to me by a fellow researcher. I thought it was worth passing on. It proves how important it is to double check sources. ok so are you saying that Fairmont was in: District of West Augusta ???? - 1776 Mononogalia County 1776 - 1784 Harrison County 1784 - 1842 Marion County 1842 - present Do you know when Middletown was renamed as Fairmont? I feel I need to rephrase my question :) I know that Fairmont is in Marion County after 1842, but which County was it in before 1842? Mononogalia or Harrison? Thanks Sandi -- Come Visit my Homepage!!! http://members.home.net/workman/

I am trying to find out if Fairmont was either in Mononogalia or Harrison County. I know that Marion county was formed from both of these counties. Can anyone help? Thanks Sandi -- Come Visit my Homepage!!! http://members.home.net/workman/

I just got into Geneolagy on the intermet last week and ran into this site . I was born and raised in Harrison county and have enjoyed reading all of your e-Mails.I understand this is free until tonight. The question I would like to ask is what would be the best software for me to buy to get started into this. I know little or nothing about where to do or go.
