    3. I grandmother was burried in this Cemetery but there are no headstone there . About 100 people where burried there by the county of Harrison. You would have to get a copy of death Certificate to see if this is it. It is located 500 ft up the side of the mountian next to the 4-H center on Rt. 19 in Clarkesburge. 3. Betty, is this cemetery directky behind where the Poor House sat? I never realized there was a cemetery there. I was raised at West Milford & passed the PoorFarm many, many times before it was torn down, It was to a child, a beautiful, big , brick, house. It took me a while to understand why it was called "poor". 2. Gloria, My Grandfather's name was John William Johnson. He changed his middle name from Preston to William. However, it wouldn't be my Grandfather but my Great Grandfather and his wife who would be buried in this Cemetery, I miss spoke. My Great Grandfather's name was William Henry Harrison Johnson and his wife's name was Eliza. Jackie From Michigan.

    2. Betty I am not sure. That could possibly be it. I was just informed that there was a Johnson Family Farm that also had a cemetery. There were several Johnson's buried there with some of them being Family members. If you could tell me where this is I could check it out from there, possibly see if the Family members I am seeking are indeed buried there. Thanks Again. Jackie from Michigan

    3. I noticed your question about microfiche from Salt Lake City.... I am LDS and take advantage of the film ... what I do is go to one of the Family History Library's..... and have the person in charge order from a program that is there... and in a few days it is in... and we use the readers there in the library to view the films. YOu can order books on film also. they can check to see if they are available on film.. there are alot that are.I have ordered two myself. Also there is the site Familysearch.org..... there is tons of imfo there too and other resourses. 2. Jim, I was just trying to clear out some old msgs and found this. Do you still have the book? I would love to find out about Abraham Exline; his father John was in Rev. & moved to OH ( I assume for bounty land). Abe & another bro stayed there. So John had property in Harrison Co. & I've never found what happened to it. But I think Abraham bought his. If you still have the book, cd you please check?? THANKS!!! 2. Hi all, Does anyone have the Death Record (or Birth or Marriage) for Earl Lee Lewis? He died between 1960-80 in Elkin, Randolph County, West Virginia. One of his wives was Emma West (another was an Indian woman named Maude). He married before 1918 in West Virginia (Children: Russell b.1918 and Mary b.1921). I just recently learned that I had this ggrandfather. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks, Jeffrey Lewis Williams. MITNWVNC@aol.com

Until that time, it was up to a family member, neighbors, friends, etc to take the info to the court house & have it put on record. Being a new immigrant, they may not have been told this & simply didn't register the birth. Maybe it was common knowledge for all others, I don't know. But being a new person in a strange new place, they may simply not have known what to do. Just a thought---Ruth Bush Highland
