Hi Vaughn, This is second time around. I some how ended up with rich text. Also in the #'s the 1's are i's for some reason. Hope you can make it out. Cathy You are my test. Here is what I found in the book: Genealogical and Personal History of the Upper Monongahela Valley WestVirginia Under the Editorial Supervision of Bernard L. HI Lillian, I am sorry, but I found nothing in the book: Genealogical and Personal History of the Upper Monongahela Valley WestVirginia Under the Editorial Supervision of Bernard L. Butcher that would seem to fit your people. None of the other people were there either. Thanks, Cathy
Hi Yvonne, In the book: Genealogical and Personal History of the Upper Monongahela Valley WestVirginia Under the Editorial Supervision of Bernard L. Butcher I found a WHETSELL. It started on page 1342. According to the sketch the name belonged to a German family living in Maryland. The variation on spelling in colonial days was WETZELL. I don't know if this is the same as what you are looking for but if you would like a copy of the sketch I would be glad to snail it to you no charge, no problem. It is 2 pages long. Let me know. Thanks, Cathy Dorson
Looking for surname PELL the following information and data can be found in: VIRGINIA Northern Neck Land Grants Volume 111 1775-1800 Compiled by Gertrude E. GRAY Accordinding to the data compiled by Gertrude E. GRAY the following was found. Vol. 111, pg. 80, "T-232: Henry Hardman 164 A. (18 Sep 1780) in Hampshire Co. on Stoney Run of Mill Cr. adj. William Pell. 6 Mar 1789" Vol. 111, 183 "W-597: T.W. 9020=16 Nov 1781 Robert Williams asne. of William Pell 100 A.(25 Oct 1792) in Hampshire Co. adj. Robert Allen, Thomas Buffington, Half Mile Run of Cabbin Run. 23 Sept 1795 This is all I found on PELL in all of the books. I know it doesn't seem like much but it does give a place to look for more and if you want complete copies of the documents which gives more detail that isn't in the book, they can be obtained by writing to the address the book gives with the following information: "Copies of the original grants may be secured from the Virginia State Library. Specify the nname of collection, name of grantee, volume and page number. Send a self addressed, stamped envelope for a price quote, limiting requests to two items per letter. Do notinclude money with orders. Write to: Virginia State Library, Capitol Square, Richmond, Virginia 23219-3491. The originals have more data not included in these excerpts from the original. I hope this helps a little at least. Thank you, Cathy Dorson

Recomposition is possible if your text program supports pictures and word layouts. It supports 56 different languages, which amazes me. I don't know the price, my son bought it for me at Staples. It also has tech support at www.scansoft.com. It is really very versatile. Thanks in advance for the lookup on ROSS.
SandraG627--do you happen to have any more information on the Joseph Lowther that married Catherine Coburn? I am interested in who her parents might be.
Cathy Scan the stuff on your scanner, then go to save as, you should come up with a drop down menu. Scroll down to JPEG and save. then type an e-mail and attach it. You souldn't have to type much in each e-mail. Dear List, I'm going to answer my own question. All three were buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Clarksburg, Clay Dist. I found the photo index sheet and was able to figure out, from other tombstones, which Cemetery it was. David and Florence are listed in the HCGS Clay Co Cemetery book, but Margaret is not. So she is an addition to that volume. Just a case of too many tombstones in unknown territory! Can anyone at all help me? I'm a beginner in genealogy and trying to find my roots. I can't seem to get anywhere on my father's side. My father, Robert Lawrence Snell, was born July 25, 1918 in Nutter Fort, WV. He was one of six children b. to John Erland Snell, b. approx. 1884 in Fayette Co. WV, and d. approx. 1/1/1929, and Florence Gertrude Delo, b. approx 1896 and d. approx. 1931. They were married 1/19/1913 in Harrison Co. WV. Someone found a possible match for John Erland's parents - J. A. Snell, unknown birth or death date, m. Mary V. (?), also unknown birth and death. I'm trying to go back as far as I can on the Snell side. The only actual fact I have is my father's parents names and marriage date, and his place of birth. Can anyone help me find out any more info at all? I'm at a brick wall. Thank you very much.
Hi Listers, The books came today for Monongalia Co. so I can start the lookups in them. They cover a lot of area. And for the names of people mentioned there is quit a bit of data. Is there anyone who might be able to tell me how to get scanned material from the scanner into a program so it can be read and pasted to the e'mail.? I am new at that. I can do phpotos with no problem and I can print directly from the scanner but trying to send it to word just comes out jibberish for me and trying to type all would take for ever as there is so much there. I can send snail mail with no problem but would like to post data as well. I have gotten it into imaging but is to big to put in an e'mail. I don't know how to make it smaller. So if anyone knows how to do any of this, I follow instructions well and learn quick. I can't wait to put up some of the data in these books. Monongahalia books are awsome and so glad I got them. Cathy
