Actually, this cemetery is in Taylor Co, I think. Anyway, you go east on Rt 50 from Bridgeport toward Grafton. Go past Maple Lake on your right (sorry, everyone around here knows where Maple Lake is) ...you go past about 1000 feet or so, turn left on Rt 6, right before the Harrison/Taylor Co lines. Go about two miles, the church and cem will be on your left, you can't miss it. Watch out, they just opened or about to open the new four lane that cuts from Rt 50 to old Rt 73 near the airport. Rt 6 is the two lane road right past the new road. Beautiful country all around the cemetery. Now would be a nice time to come, the leaves are beautiful. My ancestors the Pattons gave this land to the church many years ago. To Lee Eddy: where do you live? I am related to the Eddy family of Monongalia Co, WV. Lyle Corder
Can someone assist me with the location of Middleville Cemetery? We are looking for Drucilla Morgan Cochran d. 1839. I thank you. Lee Eddy
Dear Lee: I have a listing for that cem. And, I have been there many times. It is off Rt. 50 going from Bridgeport to Pruntytown/Grafton. Drusilla is listed with several Cochrans. Drusilla, wife of Zackquill....1776-1839. I can give you specific directions if you want them...have to get my map out. Lyle Corder
Hi Cathy, I appreciate the time you spent for the "Look up" from your other Monongalia County Book for my James Johnson/Johnston 1775-1796. Hopefully this new Monongalia County History book may have something about my James Johnston and his wife Catherine. Please put me on your look up list. I certainly appreciate you time and kindness for looking in you book for a mention of my Johnston ancestors. Thank you, Lillian

Hi, Do you have any dates or given names to go with the surnames? If all of those people are in there and that, There will be too many pages to send via e'mail as I don't know how to scan and put in computer and nothing has worked. So if you could give me a little more to go on. As far as Aaron Smith and James, I have one of each of those in my data base. My Aaron is connected to the Shinn and that. If this is the one you are talking about, I have some on him regardless of whether he is in the book or not. Let me know. Dear list members, Cathy has added some new cemetery transcriptions to the Harrison County webpage--Lumberport IOOF (Eagle Dist); Sigley Cemetery; Adamsville Cemetery and part of Enterprise Cemetery. All the transcriptions were taken from LDS microfilmed records of readings done in 1930-1940. While the total Lumberport, Adamsville and Sigley Cemeteries are on the Harrison Co page, only part of the Enterprise Cemetery is there. There are over 700 graves and will take time to transcribe the entire thing. That listing will be added to over the next month or so. Some dates or complete names are missing; caused by either the original reader being unable to read the tombstones or because the microfilm was illegible. The advantage of the older readings is that the stones may have been more legible 50 or 60 years ago. I have tried to read those cemeteries which have not been published in book form by the Harrison Co Genealogical Society. Have fun and I hope you find a lot of good information in these. Mariana

Cyndi, Since birth records are not available before 1853, you will need to search other records such as wills, deeds, deaths, etc. The 1810 census would also be helpful to determine a male in a ROSIER household one year or under. If all else fails, John's death record may provide his parents' names. BTW, a son of one John ROSIER & wife Elizabeth, died in Harrison Co WV 25 Jul 1879 at age 8 days. No name, but born in HC. Best~~Patti
I hope someone can give me some guidance. Here is my county courthouse dilemma/confusion: My Rosier family lived in the Knottsville area of Taylor Co., WV from at least 1850 (per census records) to present. My gg-grandfather, John Rosier b. 1809, married Narcissus Hull. Per info from another researcher, their marriage bond was dated Aug. 20, 1836 issued in Monongalia Co. That would lead me to believe that John lived in Monongalia County at that time. Taylor Co. was formed from Harrison, Barbour, and Marion Counties in 1844. Marion County was formed from Monongalia and Harrison in 1842. I want to find John's parents and siblings, don't know where he was born. Then, Preston and Harrison are adjacent to Taylor, were they ever part of the mix? Which courthouse do I go to? If anyone knows the answer to this please let me know. I live in Ohio and am planning a courthouse trip in two weeks. It would be a timesaver to at least have the right courthouse. Thank you in advance, Cyndi Rosier Daines
My civil war roster CD shows only 1 William F. Costello. He was in 4 New York Calvary. If this is who yoou are looking for, you can send to NARA & get his records. The NARA formyou need can be printed off their webpage or obtained by writing to them or is available at most genealogical societies & many libraries.
