    1. [WVHARRIS] Sommerville family
    2. Hi Myrt -- I too am interested in the Sommerville connection. I am descended from James and Elizabeth Lynch Sommerville through their daughter Margaret who married William Burnside. Do you have any information on the parents of Elizabeth Lynch? Also, I am trying to determine exactly where in County Donegal, Ireland the Sommervilles and Burnsides lived. I am making the assumption that since they travelled together, they were probably from the same area. I believe the ship's name was "Dolores", but I haven't been able to find any info on that either. Any clues would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Judy Corrin

    1. [WVHARRIS] Smith
    2. Myrt, I found two Peter Smith as follows: Peter Hamilton, b18--, Culp Co., fPeter, w Ida Sparks. Peter William, b1828, Glou Co., d1908, wFrancis J. Rowe As with Smith, Davis etc. there are three pages of Smith. I have a Smith line coming from Arron Smith from NJ myself. I checked my data base but don't have a Peter. Of course I am far from ahaving all my data recorded. Cathy D

    1. [WVHARRIS] Mitchell
    2. Dee, I found a lot of Mitchells in V. & W.Va.- Vol. 1 There is one Robert. He is to old but this is what it says. Robert, b17-- father-William, Roberts w is Hannah Ball, md 1746 Quit a few of the Mitchells are connected to Ball. Even the newer ones. Is there another Mitchell? There are aproximately 17 given names with this surname. As with the other's if we have the other vol's I will see what else I can find. Cathy D

    1. [WVHARRIS] BATSON
    2. Elaine, In V &W VA Vol. 1 ,I found a Batson as follows: BATSON, --, b18--, hEnoch Garett. Under Willoughby, I found nothing. I will keep the name and if we have any of the other vol., I will look and see if Abel and Peggy are there. Cathy D

    1. [WVHARRIS] RHODES,WABLE
    2. SL, I found out why I can't find anything in the book V. & W.V. The index is ONLY FOR the OTHER VOL.'s Man! So I went back and looked again. Here is a list of the given names and you can look see if there is a given name of interest and I will add it. I don't know how to scan text and get it to come out right or I would just scan and send all. So here goes. Abraham ( 4 of them), Ann, Anna, Annie(2), Barbara, Cathrine, Charles,Daniel,David, Ed, Elizabeth, Fannie,Isaac, J.B.D ,Jacob(2),James (2),Jane, Jeff ,Jessie,Fred, Dinges, John (5), Madison, Maggie, Maria,Mary(2) Michael(3), Milton,Neal, Olin, Philip,Ras, Rebecca,Samuel,T.E,Thomas,Walter,William. I saw dates ranging from 1789-1889. So it covers a wide spectrum of dates and counties. There was nothing in this vol. about Wable. Let me know which names. Now maybe I can find something on the other names I thought weren't there. Cathy D

    2. Cathy, What a great offer -- THANK YOU! I am searching for RICHARD PELL. He came from England as a "bound immigrant" at the age of 10 years old. He threw a rock and killed a piglet and was sent to prison for the crime. He then was shipped to the colonies in 1737 and we can't find him anywhere. If he is not listed I will take any PELL you may find. Again thanks for your offer. It makes up for the fact my computer crashed and I lost everything except the backup of my genealogy program. Just shows there is a God and he looks after the Mountaineers. Judy in Ohio WRIGHT, PELL, FAIRFAX, PYLES, PILES, MILLER, MITTER << I went to the library today. 3. What I do when I don't know the charge(s), is to mail them a check in the amount of, say $5. Then they will return your letter with the check and tell you the correct amount. In the meantime, you might get lucky and they will just make a xerox copy for you and send it for free. Take a chance. Smith to Margaret Talbott in Lewis Co. on April 20, 1841. Martin was born about 1816. Dorothea/Dorothy/Dolly Smith could also be a daughter but have not been able to make a solid connection. I found a Peter Smith and Phoebe Them marriage record in the Harrison Co. courthouse for October 4, 1813 but don't know if this is my Peter. We descend from Peter and Phoebe Smith to their son Martin J. Smith and Margaret (Talbott) Smith to their oldest child Ellis Lee Smith who was born in Lewis Co. in 1843 and married Matilda Frances Hudson on August 1, 1865. Any help much appreciated.
