This Mumbert had a relative Annie who married james Davis/Brake about 1819. Any info on her would be welcome. As for Wise, there are two words in German "Weiss" and "Wiess" (at least I think the "ie" is the difference. Since I have Weese relatives that came from Hardy I had a Gemran researcher look into it and he looked at the notes and told me that the above two words are different surnames one being pronounced WEESE and the other WICE ("White"). When he looked at my Hardy County Weese/Wise notes he was under the impression that there were two families there early representing both of hte above. I myself never looked close enough. Yes, I have Anna Mumbert, daughter of Jacob and Margaret Mumbert, who married James Davis. Jacob and Margaret had six children: George, Elizabeth, Anna, Mary, John and Catherine. I have a James Davis with a son John. James wife was Nancy Norton. JOhn married Leah Harris and they moved to Knox county Ohio and later to Allen CO. I wish I could find a connection for them. JOhn was born 1781 in Hardy COunty and died in 1856 in Allen CO, Ohio. Have you ever heard of these people Mike? Rose
