Wow. Familiar names. You are all still there. I am planning a genealogy trip this fall to Hardy County. My most recent relative was born there in 1794, Jane Magill Shobe. Her mother was a Welton and her grandfather was Job Welton m. Mary McQuire. Other than the Looney's Creek area, I want to trace Mary's parents who are buried in Hampshire County (which may now be Hardy). Any suggestions about who to see and where to go would be most welcome. I want to stick my toe in the Potomac, take pictures, gather leaves for nieces and nephews not yet interested in ancestors and get as much information as I can.
