Hello, I am new to this list. I am looking for parents of Mary Susan McDonald born 1844 who married John Alexander Welch. All we have is a paper that says Mary Susan McDonald's father was Benjamin McDonald and they lived in Maysville. On one of their childrens death certificate lists Mary Susan's maiden name as "Lewis". I suspect that Lewis may be one of her grandparents name. In my research I keep coming back to Ferdinand Lewis who married Ada Schell. Also may connect to Stingley and Michael familys. I cannot find her in any 1850 census, but do find her at age 16 living with Solomon Michael in 1860. I suspect that perhaps her parents were dead by then. One mystery I would like to solve is from a Richmond newspaper dated March 23, 1859 "Miss Margaret E. McDonald died in Hardy County, Va., on the 9th (March) instant, being the tenth member of her family - including her parents who have died in the last five months.
