I'm hoping there is a SHIPS researcher on this list who can help me solve my Mary GOINGS dilemma. Before locating in Hardy County in 1790s, a family of GOINGS probably lived in Shenandoah Co, and were descendants of a Michael Goan (Goings) and wife Molly. This Michael seemed to disappear from tax lists etc. in Shenandoah in about 1790s. The sons (and possibly other family members) settled in Hardy Co. at that time. This group includes a Henry, Michael, Shadrack Jonas, Joseph, Jacob and others. My theory is that this Mary GOINGS who married SHIPS was the widow of old Michael of Shenandoah. I have looked at lots of microfilm and have visited Hardy Co Court House in my research. Would be happy to share in my GOINGS information. In a County Record Book 1818, there are other confusing entries concerning Shadrack GOINGS and Rachael WATTS - and also Henry and wife Lucy BLACKWELL GOINGS. I had posted to this list about this bunch a couple of years ago - just thought I'd try again for new members. Annette Miner
