Dear folks--- I found a plat, dated 1769, involving several lots in the area of Sawmill Run/The Trough near the Hardy/Hampshire line. The lots were owned by the Wharton brothers of Philadelphia but have Samuel Dew's house on one of the lots. The plat could not be copied in one image, so it is completed in three separate images. I have zipped the JPEGs with a brief narrative document explaining the background of the plat. The total size is 545K. If anyone is interested in receiving them, please email me as listed above, and I'll email the zipped file. Hopefully, Margaret will be able to get the same documents up on the Hardy County site, but in the meantime, they are available upon request. I will also soon have ready a zipped file containing a plat in the Lunice (Looneys) Creek area of present Grant County, but formerly Hardy. It also is dated 1769. Both plats have names of adjoining owners. These plats were found in an unexpected place---the Papers of Adam Stephen on microfilm in the Library of Congress, so it is doubtful that these plats have come to anyone's attention before now.
