It has been suggested to me that I post to the list for information regarding orphan court records or something similar to that which may have existed back in 1827....I have come up with nothing for my great-great-grandfather who was born in Moorefield, WVA in 1827 per his death certificate and obit (the death certificate specifies Moorefield but the death certificate only state WVA)...he moved to DC when he was six years old....his name is Thomas J. (Joseph) Mattingly born June 2, 1827...I have found no Mattinglys listed in the Moorefield or Hardy Co Census back then...would anyone on the list be able to help me?
