    3. I'm looking for information about a GEORGE CORE, who I believe to be my 5th great grandfather. He leased lot number 12 in South Branch Manor from 1773 until 1775, when he assigned the lease to ANDREW PANCAKE. The lease assignment to Pancake was recorded in Hampshire County Deed Book 3, pp. 154-155. His adjoiners were listed as ADAM HIDER and Coke, who must be CHRISTOPHER COCKE, who leased one of the adjacent lots. The land was on the South Branch River, near the mouth of Lunice Creek. Since the land has been included in Hampshire, Hardy, and now Grant County, I thought it might be appropriate to subscribe to all three of these lists to look for information. The only other reference that I can find to George Core in Hampshire County is his inclusion on the rent rolls of South Branch Manor in 1775. Does anybody know how to find microfilm of the original rent rolls? My only source for the rent rolls has been Broderbund CD #310, which provides no documentation for the information. George's apparent son, Henry Core, stated in his Revolutionary War Pension application that he was born in Hampshire County in 1763, but I have no idea if his father had actually located there quite so early, since the earliest record I can find is 1773. I believe that this George Core was killed by Indians in Monongalia County in 1778, and that his sons Henry and John located in German Twp., Fayette Co., PA, and his sons Christopher and Michael located in Monongalia Co., (W)VA. I'd like to become familiar with the more obscure early genealogical resources of Hampshire County, so I can learn more about the Core family's presence there. I also have a backburner project involving the Franks family, from whom I'm also descended. Another 5th-great grandfather, MICHAEL FRANKS, obtained a patent in Green Spring Valley, Hampshire County, in 1770. He was a neighbor to MICHAEL CRESAP, LODOWICK CASTLEMAN, WILLIAM DOBSON, et al. believe that his grandson, HENRY FRANKS, claimed the land in the 1790's, years after Michael had left - also for German Twp., Fayette Co., PA. Henry Franks also later purchased land on Mill Creek, adjacent to ADAM HIDER, perhaps the same one mentioned above- although this purchase was made in 1813, some 40 years after George Core first purchased land adjacent to Hider. As I mentioned, I am looking for any resources that may help me learn more about the Core and Franks presence in Hampshire/Grant/Hardy Counties. Any information about the other families mentioned that may pertain to my families will be appreciated. Brian Brian D. Core P.O.
