Have you tried http://www.wvculture.org/index.aspx? Click on the "ARCHIVES AND HISTORY" link at the top of the page, then on the next page that opens scroll down the page until you see the header "EXPLORE ARCHIVES AND HISTORY..." and click on the link "BIRTHS, DEATHS, AND MARRIAGES". From the page that opens you can search various Vital Records for some of the West Virginia counties. Marriages for Hardy include: 1792, 1795 - 1796, 1799, 1801 - 1842, 1844 - 1847, 1849 - 1851, 1853 - 1970. This site is a great place to search for WV vital records. I hope you can find what your looking for. Go to _http://www.wvculture.org/vrr_ (http://www.wvculture.org/vrr) and it will display numerous counties from which you can choose to research. Or you can let the site select ALL of the available counties of West Virginia. Don't be discouraged if you don't get a find. It may mean that the person who retrieve the information from the original document couldn't read the handwriting and may have spelled the surname or first name differently than what you may have. In this case, type some letters with a wildcard in certain positions. For example, I am researching the surname Nazelrod but it has been spelled many, many ways. Therefore, I enter "N*l*r*d" minus the quotation marks and the site will show me ALL of the surnames that fit into the category. Try it! It contains priceless information! Wanda
I found a John Davis who married Hannah Frye in Hardy County in the early 1800s at _www.wvculture.org/vrr_ (http://www.wvculture.org/vrr) . Wanda
Yes, Hardy County was part of the state of Virginia, until it became West Virginia in 1863. Wanda PS: I am researching my ancestry of Hardy County (Nazelrod)
Go to _www.wvculture.org/vrr_ (http://www.wvculture.org/vrr) to see a lot of Birth, Death, and Marriage listings for Hardy County, West Virginia. It is a wonderful site - and it's FREE!!! Wanda PS: Looking for my ancestry in Hardy County (Nazelrod)
Rose, Hardy County was created from Hampshire County in VA in 1785. West VA became a state in 1863. I don't know if both VA and WV have Hardy County records. Anyone out there have definitive answer? Shelia (Burch, Tharp, Bargerhoff)

Can anyone tell me if there were marriage records kept as early as 1806 in Hardy Co? Rose
Did Hardy county ever reside in VA? Or was it created after the split? I need to know where to look for records from the early 1800's. All of the records found in John Davis trunk were from Hardy Co. He married there also, so I am assuming he was from there as was his wife. Rose

HI Sue: Lydia Hulver Wilson is my husband's great-great grandmother. She was married to Hayden Wilson, cousin of Laban Wilson. Her father was George Hulver, I believe. I am not sure if she had a brother, James or a sister, Jane. . As far as I know, Hayden didn't have a sister, Barbara. I will have to check. Thanks, Sue Wilson
