    3. I might try the Hardy County Public Library,102 North Main Street,Moorefield, WV,26836,(304) 538-6569. They have lots of genealogical material and, while they don't have staff to do research for you, I have sent a SASE and received a nice reply to a specific question, Sally

    2. Marti: I was transcribing an obituary for Vesta Catherine Kessel (1914-1972) who married Adrian Lee Mullin. She was the daughter of John William Kessel and Eliza C. Berg. It stated she was buried in the Kessel Cemetery and I tried finding more online, checked out _http://www.findagrave.com/_ (http://www.findagrave.com/) and still no luck. I hope another kind soul will know more. I know that Hardy County have put out a cemetery book years ago, maybe if someone has the book or access to it, they can answer. 1. [WVHARDY] Leah Harris John Davis
    2. Hello there... I am new to this list and am hoping to solve the puzzle of who the parents of Leah Harris are. She was born abt 1780 in Hardy Co, VA. she married John Davis also of Hardy Co, VA, on the 6th of Jan 1806, in HArdy. They moved to Knox county, Ohio where she died on 11th of August, 1820. They had 9 children: James Davis, Matilda Davis, Mary Davis, Nancy Davis, Rebecca Davis, Rhoda Davis, John Davis Jr, Patsy Davis (my line), Sarah Davis. Sarah was born in 1820 in Knox CO Ohio and that birth may have caused her mothers early demise. I hope this rings a bell with someone on this list. Thanks so much Rose Adams in CA.

    2. Pat Thompson
    3. I am back, looking for Gracie Myrtle Turner Upole. Gracie was born 1876-1878 in WV (probably Grant Co.) married in 1893 to Truman Edward Upole. After 12 years of searching I am back to the possible connection to the family of: Abraham EVANS (b. 1820) b. VA - possible grandfather of Gracie. William TURNER (b. 1854) b. PA – possible father of Gracie Jane C. Evans (b. 1854) b. VA – d/o Abraham and possible mother of Gracie. Other children of Wm. Turner and Jane C. Evans: Mary C., (b. 1875) Oril M., (b. June 1879) In 1880 the Turner family was in the household of Abraham Evans in Grant County, Unions Dist. West Virginia. Of my four g, grandmothers, Gracie is the ONLY g, grandmother that I can’t place, with any certainty, to a family. If someone has information for this possible connection of the TURNER and EVANS family I would appreciate hearing from you.  Pat (Friend) Thompson  www.friendfamilyassociation.org

    3. Hi, I was just cruising through the Library of VA site and noticed that some of my ancestors acquired land in Hardy County way back when. I was wondering if anyone here had either any information or is a distant cousin? From what I understand, the general consensus is that Nicholas LeHugh was Peter's father, but we don't really know his wife's name, other than Mary (speculation has it as maybe Owen, other say she was the 'wife' at the time of the will) - or if there were other kids, etc. thank you for your time Peter Lehew 1704 - 1780 Frances Allen 1692 – Julie in CA --------------------------------- Everyone is raving about the all-new Yahoo! 1. Re: [WVHARDY] Teets
    2. I believe that I saw the settlement of his (Adam Teets/Deets) estate in Toothman's(?) "Abstracts of Pendleton Co, WV." In the abstract, it lists all the children of Thomas Miller of Pendleton Co, WV and says that they are the heirs of Adam Deets, being the father of their (the Miller Children's) mother. I also saw an abstract from Washington County, Maryland, which also lists the Miller children as the heirs of the only daughter of Adam Deets/Teets. Neither abstract mentions her name, She is just listed as the wife of Thomas Miller. Thomas Miller is the father of Michael, Jacob, George, Leonard Miller, and Catherine Hinkle, Susanna Lantz/Lance, Margaret Kile, and Mary Tingler. I am in San Antonio at this time. Jeff

    2. Hi Jeff: Most of my Davis info is in a book called Days of Our Davis, it is a fairly new book but it was published by Family History Publishers 845 S. Main, Bountiful Utah, 84010. My John came from (we think) Hardy County, WV. We are not positive but when he died and they got his trunk it held lots of legal papers from that county. This was a large family and they went up to Allen CO, Ohio. John married Leah Harris in VA.and was in Knox, Co, OH. They had these children: 1. James Davis b. 24 Oct 1806 VA. 2. Matilda b. 9 Dec 1807 VA. 3. Mary b. 1809, OH. 4.Nancy b. 29 Jan 1811, Oh. 5. Rebecca b. 3 Nov 1812, OH 6. Rhoda b. 19 May1814, OH. 7. John Davis jr. b. 18 Apr 1816, OH 8. Patsy Davis b. Dec 1818 Knox, OH "MINE" 9. Sarah b. 11 Aug 1820. Leah died with the last child. JOhn went up to Allen County and remarried: Joanna Doty 27 Dec 1821 she died. Rachel Mclane 30 Apr 1833 she died Rebecca Bird 6 Jan 1841 she outlived him. John died 8 Oct 1856, In Allen CO, Ohio.
