I am researching descendants of John Hamilton who owned land along the Ohio River known as Muchmores Bottom; at the time it was in Brooke Co. and now is in Hancock Co. He died in 1815, but apparently had started a ferry service to Wellsville, OH in 1812. His land was described in the deed as bordering on land of Charles Clinton; the deed said the land was part of the land once owned by Gen. Johnston. I have a couple of questions: 1. Was this Charles Clinton father of Sarah Ann Clinton who married Daniel Hamilton in 1815? Daniel was a son of John Hamilton. 2. Can anyone tell me about Gen. Johnston who is referenced as the "original" owner of the land at Muchmores Bottom? Where was the general from? Was this a military land grant given for military service? Thanks, Sue Streett
