In the book- History of Hancock, I find a Thomas Anderson & Son MFRS of Fire brick, Tiles, Fire-Clay, & C Freemans Landing, in a list of Industries of New Cumberland. & Chapter XVI The Civil war & Hancock County, " The clouds of the Civil War gathered over the nation in 1860, Hancock County had a population of 4,445, nearly all of which was scattered throughout the area on farms. The County residents were alarmed when Virginia seceded from the Union, and when a meeeting of citizens in western VA was called in Wheeling on May 13, 1861 The county sent a sizable body of representatives. They were George Porter, W.L. Crawford, Louis R. Smith, J.C. Crawford, B.J..Smith, Thomas Anderson, William B. Freeman, W.C. Murry, J.L. SUTER VA BK 3A p 86 off J. Naylor there are abt 12 marriages under Andersons- if you want them let me know.. Since he died in 1912- I don't have any other records to check on for him, sorry. Have you tried the National Archives to see if he got a pension for his service?
