Dear Listers, Recently the message boards at Rootsweb and Ancestry.com were combined. They are up and running now, and are a bit different than before. If you use the URL http://resources.rootsweb.com/USA/WV/Hancock (or Brooke or Ritchie or any other WV county) you will still see the genconnect buttons labeled Will, Query, Deeds, Obits, etc. At one time, I had control over these lists and some say in how things went with them. Since I did not own ALL of the boards for each county, they have been turned over to the administrator of the Query board. Unfortunately, that was not one of my boards. While I have been testing out the new system, and it really is not that bad, there are a couple of things that I wanted to mention to you. FIRST, you must register at http://www.ancestry.com to be able to use the boards. I had registered once during a trial period and just used the user id and password from that. It is remembered at ancestry. Second, the messages posted to the boards are NO LONGER posted to the mailing lists automatically. I don't know if enough of us would request it, if the person who administrates the boards would change them or not. Until then, you might want to visit the boards now and then to see what might be there of use to you or who you may help. I'm sorry for any inconvenience that this causes to any of you, but it was something that we had no control over. On the bright side, they work much the same with better features in a lot of cases AND will be seen by twice as many researchers. Hi Jan, Thanks for the note abt the new boards. I tired to check the board & find the will listings- ?in Hancock. I didn't find any there on the new message board. did I just not look in the right place ? or do they not show up anymore? I Have been having a blast working on my Ralston bunch from Brooke/Hancock... just found a new connection to someone today, yea.....now just have to figure out who their John Ralston b. abt 1859 parents were- always something more to research. He was living in Carroll Co OH & other clues are popping up there too. Hope you have a great summer, looks like the new boards will take some time to get use to & figure out how they work, ha. thanks for all you do for the mailing list & the web pages. You & Dale keep up the great work. I visit the pages often still trying to piece all my Ralstons together back there...& the list sure is growing.
