Cathy: I've just discovered that the Chapman Ferry was owned by William Chapman (born 1782 in Berkeley Co, VA/WV to George Chapman and Johannah LeMaster). William, and his second wife, Elizabeth (Bettie) Wilcoxen, owned three farms. The first was on Cumberland Heights, overlooking New Cumberland, WV. The third was in Ohio. But the second was at the site of Chapman's Ferry and was located just north of Tomlinson Run, along the Ohio River, north of New Cumberland, WV. The Chapmans moved to Stark County, Ohio in 1839, and I don't know what happened to the ferry at that time. I also don't know if the ferry was just for the Chapmans' use, or if it was a public conveyance. Pat Pulasky ----------------------------------- > P.
