date of death 11-27-1972 Services will be held Friday morning at 11 at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester for Fay L. Mercer, 79, of 509 George St., Scottdale, Pa., who died Monday evening. The Rev. Richard Evanson of the Christian Church of New Cumberland will officiate. Mr. Mercer was born Dec. 15, 1892, in Hancock County, a son of Levi D. and Martha McDowell Mercer. He left the New Manchester area 32 years ago. He retired in 1963 from the Duralay Co., of Scottdale, where he had been employed for 32 years. He was a veteran of World War I and a former member of the New Manchester Christian Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lenore Smith Mercer, and a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Miridean) Cunning of Richmond, Calif. Friends may call at the James Murphy Memorial Home in Scottdale Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The body will then be removed to the Arner Funeral Chapel, where friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, New Manchester.
