His name was Abraham Hussin (could be spelled Hussein, Hossain, or any number of variances). I don't know what his profession was, but he was from the isle of Rhodes between Greece and Turkey. Abraham Hussin's brother was my grandfather, Alex Nain (on Rhodes this was apparently originally spelled Naim). If anyone has ever heard of this person, and might be able to give me some leads on his family, I would be very appreciative

    1. [WVHANCOC] UPDATE/FOUND!! James Wilson WV 12th Infantry
    2. Zeta Wilson Peterson
    3. Just found this exciting news on the WVHANCOC-L email list through rootsweb. It confirms and lists my great grandfather James Wilson. It has a great history on the battles in which he fought. Our family has told stories of how the soldiers had to eat 'onions' for food as at times that was all that they could find to eat. Another story was that of a confederate soldier who stood on a tree stump and crowed like a rooster.... which naturally made him a prime candidate for getting shot. (Don't know if he did or not.....). I have a picture of my great grandfather James in his civil war uniform that my son, Teal, will have to scan for us!!! Still to be confirmed as family ties are the other WILSONs on the list and members of the CARSON family. REFERENCE: --------------- HISTORY OF THE TWELFTH WEST VIRGINIA INFANTRY 1861-1865 (Volunteer Infantry) http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/12thcover.htm Following is the roster of the 12th WV INFANTRY where my James Wilson is listed. Our family records confirm the roster with him as a Corporal and that he served. (Company I): ---------------------------------------------------------- Family Notes: From 8/12/1862-6/16/1865, James served as a Corporal in the Civil War with Co I, 12th Reg WVa Inf. Vol. He enlisted in Manchester, West Virginia. ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/12roster.htm SOURCE OF INFORMATION: Subject: [WVHANCOC] 12th WV Infantry Book (and MORE) Online! Resent-Date: Sun, 2 Jul 2000 14:45:33 -0700 Resent-From: WVHANCOC-L@rootsweb.com Date: Sun, 2 Jul 2000 17:45:27 EDT From: LCFlu@aol.com Reply-To: WVHANCOC-L@rootsweb.com Message from LINDA FLUHARTY, Coordinator of the Marshall, Calhoun & Pleasants County WVGenWeb pages, the Wheeling Area Genealogical Society page and the Martins Ferry Ohio Historical Society page. Hello, Everyone: My 1892 book, History of the 12th West Virginia Infantry, 1861-1865, is now online! http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/12thcover.htm <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/12thcover.htm">12th West Virginia Infantry, Civil War</A> The 12th WV INF was formed as follows: Cos. A, B and C, in Marshall; Co. D, in Ohio County; Cos. E and G, in Harrison; Co. P, in Marion; Co. H, in Taylor; Co. I, in Hancock, and Co. K, in Brooke County. This book , compiled by William Hewitt, is presented in its entirety but I plan to expand on it greatly by adding information about each and every soldier in the Regiment...more than 1000 soldiers. Obviously, this will be a long-term project! I am hoping you will contribute information to this online book that is offered FREE. - - You can submit information about your ancestor or relative in the 12th, such as transcribed pension/military records, photos, "Descendants of" genealogy files or biographical information, obits, burial info, photo of tombstone, etc . I will personalize a soldier's page to accomodate the information I receive. ADOPT A SOLDIER - If you want to participate in the project but you don't have a soldier in the 12th, then you can choose one from the roster and get his pension/military file & do some research about him. At present, I have pages started for only a FEW of the soldiers - - You will find their names highlighted in GOLD in the list of soldiers. For some I have only the obit or the location of the grave. But once I have a page made, it will be easy to add whatever I get. If you would like to participate, please contact me.(LCFlu@aol.com) In the time I have been working on this project, I have discovered a number of errors in information that has been memorialized both online and off. In the past 2 days I have found 2 soldiers from the 12th WV Infantry listed as CONFEDERATE - - C.S.A. There was no 12th WV that was Confederate. (The old tombstones are a nightmare to read and hopefully we can set the record straight in honor of these soldiers.) I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much! 1. Re: [WVHANCOC] Cemetery Location
    2. Patricia Ryan
    3. Union Cemetery is just about 1 block off Rt. 8 (formerly Rt. 2) at New Manchester (formerly named Pughtown). This is an extremely small community and you must turn off the Rt 8 at the peak of the hill in this town...coming from Chester will be a right turn...coming from New Cumberland will be a left turn. The Presbyterian Church sits in the first turn of the road, and the very next turn is where "Union Cemetery" is. I have relatives in this cemetery, namely my mother. Easiest way to tell you how to reach New Cumberland Cemetery, is same Rt. 8 to that town, go up on Ridge Avenue (coming from Chester), 1st street past the post office you turn left and go over the hill, at the foot of hill cross small concrete bridge that spans the creek, keep to left and go up the hill (cemetery hill). At the top on the right you will see New Cumberland Cemetery. I have family in this cemetery too, namely my grandfather. Hoping this will be clear to you..if not you can e-mail me . Good Luck
