    3. Hi Tina, Thanks for the note & info on your family lines. Dales ? GG grandfather- (i think,)- Frances Ralston was a brother of my GG grandfather Alexander Ralston. I don't have any Campbells in my line, sorry. I've found Dale a few yrs ago & we have had fun *cussing & discussing* our Ralston lines for some time now. I just love learning more about these early guys & tracking down all the branches on them back there on Kings Creek. I have been typing up some of the early land deeds index that another *distant cousin Bill Ralston of PA has sent me. one of the listings was on June 25, 1799 - bk 1, page 518 Martha & Samuel Ralston sold land of 104 acres 43 poles on Kings Creek to Andrew Campbell. I don't know how he fits into the Campbell family lines but just thought it was interesting so wanted to mention it to you. I have some other cousin out there in Albq NM we use to go by there for a visit on our way up to Colo on vacations when I was a kid. One of them Barbara & I have been trying to find proof of our GGGG grandfather for soooo long, it is either the Joseph or Samuel Ralston on Kings Creek who were sons of Joseph & Jane Ralston the first pioneers ancestors that we can find. each of these 2 sons named sons Joseph, Samuel, John & Andrew- (joseph had 16 kids & Samuel & Martha had12 kids) Each of the 3rd generation of Samuels went & married wifes named Elizabeth... one married Elizabeth Parks & moved to Seneca Co OH by 1840 & the other one is my GGG grandparents who are buried at the Three Springs Cemetery = (with abt 6 Joseph's) Samuel b.1801-1881 & Elizabeth Sarah McConnell, my GG is also buried there Alexander Ralston & wife Rachel Whitson. Thanks again for your note, glad to meet you & if I find any Campbell or Knox info will pass it on to you. I just got a book on ebay on the marriages of Hancock co so can't wait to get it & ponder over all the info.. Wish you Happy Trails in all your researching. Take care, keep in touch. 1. Re: [WVHANCOC] Flinch
    2. To all concerned parties, I can remember playing Flinch in the mid to late fifties as a child because it was a game my grandmother loved. The earliest reference I have been able to locate dates the game from 1938 or maybe a little earlier. The rules I found all dated from the 1963 version, but I can remember playing it in 1956 or earlier and the cards we were playing with seemed to be very old. Since I was only 9 or 10 years old at the time my memory might be playing tricks on me so draw your own conclusions. I have to conclude that since my grandmother loved this game and gave it to my siblings and I to play that the 1938 date is a little closer to the origin date than 1963. D.L. Cassidy Orange, CA

    3. Very interesting and enjoyable to read. All the surnames mentioned in that 1904 diary are all local surnames in our Ohio Valley. It would be helpful if someone is can conveniently check the Washington Co. PA 1900 & 1910 census/soundex to see where these name individuals lived to narrow in on the actual location. These early 1900s families never thought twice to catch a train and travel to Pittsburgh for a "little" shopping. Sometimes I think they had more expendable time than us. Does anyone know the game, "FLINCH"? I certainly would look forward to reading additional diary notes. Julia fkrutill@weir.net

Brand M.D. Chester WV Jean, I'm not sure where the cemetary is, but we do not have any in West Virginia, close to Newell with that abbreviation. East Liverpool, Ohio is just across the Ohio River and it is in Columbiana County. Sound like it could be Columbiana Memorial Park, but I don't know the names of the cemetaries there. I copied everything as it was in the book. Hope this helps Wadeanne
