    2. Does anyone know if the following regiment during the War of 1812 was formed in the northern panhandle (Hancock or Brooke Co. area)? 4th Regiment (Wood's) of the Virginia Militia. I found that a man named Jesse Street served in that unit and I am trying to find out where that unit was formed. And, who was the commander, Wood? Where would I be able to find a listing of Virginia Militia units in the War of 1812? Sue Streett

    3. Hello Peggy & other researchers, Thanks for the note on these Marriages, this first one is kind of a mystery as I don't know how she fits into the family, if age 23 in 1873 she would be b.abt 1850. I know there was a large group of Ralston's in Wood Co VA & can't connect them with the ones from Kings Creek...yet. ? who were her parents? & what brought her to Brooke ? > From Brooke County, VA/WV Marriage book 1, 1853 - 1873: > There are the following RALSTONs: > RALSTON, ELIZABETH book 01 page 22 line 17 > born Wood County, Virginia, resides Brooke Co, WV. age 23 yrs, unknown, child > of unk. & unk. RALSTON, married 02 Mar 1865 WV. to LUCY MC HENRY, > born Brooke Co., VA, resides Brooke Co., WV, age 23 yrs. single, child of > unk. & RACHEL MC HENRY, married by J. PIERCE. Remarks: Married MC HENRY house. On this Joseph's funeral home records= it listed his parents as Samuel Ralston & Catherine MENDLE....(BUT don't know who this Samuels parents could have been yet? his wife was listed as plot owner at the cemetery but no mention of her or Samuel's tombstones???There-help) This Joseph is buried in the Brooke cemetery I think in Wellsburg abt 1913. with a child of James Hall's buried there too, believe was his daughters child. I have thisJoseph's will too. There is no Joseph listed in Samuel (husband of Elizabeth's) will in 1881& there is no Joseph in any of the 1850-60 or 70 or 80 census of Samuel & Elizabeths home... soooo I don't find any other record that this Joseph could be a son of Samuel & Elizabeth Sarah McConnell Ralston * my 3rd gr grandparents. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > RALSTON, WILLIAM book 01 page 14 line 41 > born Hancock County, VA, resides Hancock Co., WV. OWENS, married by D. LAVERTY. Remarks: OWENS/OWINGS. This William would be a brother of my GG grfather Alexander 1827-1922, Like to find out who the C.W. & H. Owens first names were?.. still looking for some of my early Ralston marriages just not sure which county they married in, think in early Brooke Co & Hancock. I Don't know if they would be included in Ohio Co marriages?? but here are the Ralston marriages that I can't locate Marriage records on; my GG grandfather *Alexander Andrew Ralston & Rachel Whitson May 2 1850 from family Bible info. They were listed as Seth & Rachel Ralston in the 1850 census living with her parents Robert & Jane Whitson. My GGG: * Samuel Ralston & Elizabeth Sarah McConnell ? married abt 1800 maybe my GGGG: *Samuel Ralston & Martha Tucker- maybe married in Washington Co PA where her father John Tucker of the Tucker Meth Church lived.. Their son Joseph Ralston married Mary Morehead (this one is in the records of Brooke) 2-19-1812 & I have a copy of it, he married again to Hannah Edie Reymull in 1865. Samuel brother; *Joseph Ralston & Ann McCready @Beers History of Washington Co PA by 1791 *same Joseph Ralston to Sarah Greer of Harlem Springs Carroll Co OH..abt 1812-13 * Samuel & Elizabeth Parks abt 1824 - in Brooke moved to Seneca Co OH by 1834- they also had a son Joseph & Robert killed in the civil war & a son Andrew who went to Michigan, married a Ann Crapo & buried there. The Ralston family lived on Kings Creek since 1783 or before 1775 says one of the Joseph's Jr. land papers. I've been searching all the branches of Joseph & Jane ? Ralston. They had 2 sons Joseph & Samuel & between the 2 sons had at least 28 kids...lots of branches back there from Kings Creek. Happy Trails on all your researching, & Happy Thanksgiving to you ALL Kim Ralston Dresser searching from OKLA.

    1. [WVHANCOC] Charles Clinton, Gen. Johnston
    2. I am researching descendants of John Hamilton who owned land along the Ohio River known as Muchmores Bottom; at the time it was in Brooke Co. and now is in Hancock Co. He died in 1815, but apparently had started a ferry service to Wellsville, OH in 1812. His land was described in the deed as bordering on land of Charles Clinton; the deed said the land was part of the land once owned by Gen. Johnston. I have a couple of questions: 1. Was this Charles Clinton father of Sarah Ann Clinton who married Daniel Hamilton in 1815? Daniel was a son of John Hamilton. 2. Can anyone tell me about Gen. Johnston who is referenced as the "original" owner of the land at Muchmores Bottom? Where was the general from? Was this a military land grant given for military service? Thanks, Sue Streett

    1. [WVHANCOC] John Hamilton & Jesse Street
    2. Hi Everyone -- I am looking for information on John Hamilton. He was living in Brooke Co. VA (now Hancock Co. WV) when he died in 1815. He owned land along the Ohio River opposite Wellsville, OH and began a ferry service across the river about 1812. I need the maiden name of his wife, Susannah. His daughter, Susannah, married in 1806 to Jesse STREET (Jesse b. 1781 in Maryland). I have tried for some time to find the names of Jesse & Susanna Street's children, but have failed so far. I think one dau. was Jemima Street, b. 1807 and later married to Daniel Rider. If anyone recognizes this family and can provide information on when and where John Hamilton was born and when he moved to Brooke Co., I would appreciate your help. Also, I need help finding the names of the children of Jesse Street and Susanna Hamilton (they would have been born 1807-1840 in VA or Ohio). Thanks, Sue Streett Researching Street/Streett, Grafton and McClure of Maryland
