Have just received a little book "Virginia Publick Claims" and, having noticed various Vanmeter names listed recently, would like to share that listed in it are Abraham, Garret, Henry, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and Solomon. This is evidently money owed to these people by the government for beef, flour etc. No genealogical info but it does place the people there at the time. Seems to be around 1781-82.
