Peter Flick sold it 1788. . . in 1778 Mary Friend sister of Charles was living on the land . . . as of Oct.1805 this case is still continuing Abel Westfall now living in Ross Co., Ohio. . . land was left to Charles by his father Israel Friend of Frederick Co. in will dated 12 Aug. 1749, which names "eldest sons" James (sic), Jacob, Charles, and daughters Catherine Friend, and Mary Friend, and wife Sarah, and brother Charles. . . will recorded 5 June 1753 in Frederick Co. Abel Westfall had married Mary Friend (who was older than him) and apparently went to Ohio by 1796. 1802, Abel Westfall was in Knox Co., Ind., as candidate for Territorial Convention. (Wm Henry Harrison was the winner.) (Ind. Source Book, by Ruth Dorrell, 4: 71-76.) 1802, "Plat of Ore Bank" re-survey of Israel Friend patent, & George Adam Oler patent, mentions: open land called Mary Friend's field, cabin called Mary Friend's house and land occupied by her lying out of Friend's patent linesÂ… Mary Friend's deep hole, and Indian grave.
