Beth, The High family caught my attention for I have a page #243 from the book Allegheny Passage which mentions Frederick STEINBECK HIGH Sr a 2nd son of John & Elizabeth HAYMAKER HIGH b. Jan 1761 in Germany. He was married to Christina Kail of Cacapon River area. The will of Frederick HIgh was probated 1844 and names his wife Christina and 8 ch. My ggg grandfather who died 1823 in Romney, VA(W) was named Frederick Steinbeck / Stinebeck. I've reached a brick wall with him. This HIgh family has me curious...just why was Frederick Steinbeck HIGH so named? I have a page that includes the names JOhn & Mary Smith HIGH .. have you seen this book? Have you ever seen the Frederick Steinbeck name in your searches? Thanks...
