    3. Greetings one and all, I have a question you everyone. I guess it will be a new subject for my website. Does anyone know of anyones ashes spread in Hampshire Co.???? I know of one, I will make a separate section for them. So I guess what I need is the same a cemetery: Names Dates, and where the ashes were spread. An address or a property name. 1. [WVHAMPSH-L] Cemeterying: Hampshire County 250 Update
    2. R. Wayne McGahuey
    3. Greetings one and all, Today was a good day. It started out nice and sunny then the rain came and then the sun came again. Linda and I headed out to do some cemeterying today. We left Capon Bridge and the sun was out. By the time we got to Springfield, the rain came and we almost turned back. Today we were looking for just a couple of cemeteries, the main one being Grenzeback and Wall Family Cemetery. The directions I was given were adequate, but it only got me into the right area. We found the tracks, but there was a big red gate in my way. So instead of going blind into the woods, we asked around. I came across a very nice lady by the name of Curtiss P. Haines. She was very very helpful. She hadn't been there in years, but figured it hadn't moved. After about 20 minutes of the history of the area, she said for me to go back to the tracks, go down the tracks a spell and the cemetery is just into the woods. When all was said and done, and reality set in, here is exactly what happened. I parked the truck next to the tracks and Linda and I got out and headed down the tracks. Toot Toot. And then a train went flying by. You should of seen Linda's eyes. We were so close to this train, it caught us both off guard, but all went well. We were about 100 yards or so from the truck now. Lots of old RR ties, spikes and other track things laying around. There was a small access road across a 20 foot or so thicket. I figured we had to get to the road to get to the woods. The woods were actually a tree farm of sorts. I don't remember the name. Anyway. We walked down the road to the right about another 100 yards or so and decided that we had gone too far. So we walked back a piece and headed up into the hills and trees. We walked, it rained, we walked, and finally, it stopped raining, and then we walked a little more. I stayed up in the woods and Linda followed me on the road, I thought, but she was in the lower part of the woods looking, she did good. I made a finally trip to the top of the hill, and there it was. 5 stones, and several unmarked graves. When I talked to Curtiss, she told me that many years ago, she thought that there were 20 to 25 stones or graves there at one time. But today, only 5 stones, but you could see where there was the possibility of many graves, with the dips in the ground, no stones. We wandered around the area, but no more markers could be found. I took photos of each stone and we headed back to the truck. I did go to one other gravesite. The Curlett Cemetery. May old stones from the 1700s. As you can see, it is a play ground for the local kids. Lots of Tonka trucks laying around. A good cemetery for a fence. The closest house is about 10 yards or so from the nearest marker. A project for someone. Have a good night. Wayne and Linda of Capon Bridge At 12:04 AM 9/22/2002 -0400, you wrote: >Greetings one and all, > >I have a question you everyone.
