I don't know about Hampshire County, but there is a OXIER spelling here in Allegany County, Md., just across the Potomac River from GreenSpring, WV. In the Oldtown Methodist Cemetery there is a ALBERT B OXIER, 1890-1950, & wife, ADA D., 1897-1988. They were originally from Ridgeley,Mineral County, WV, & had a daughter named Chick(don't know real name) who married a LES DAWSON, who worked for the WESTERN MARYLAND RAILROAD, as a signal man, & they lived in the old Station house at Oldtown. I don't know if this info helps, but thought I'd pass it along, just in case.
