    3. Nothing on your Amos, b 1805... Jeremiah appears in the 1860 (age 5) and 1870 (age 15) censuses in Hampshire Co. in a large household of Pattersons (James, etc.)and Shanholtzers (Joanne, etc.) and a few other surnames. (Possible relatives?) It would appear that his parents might be deceased - no sign of your Amos, if 1805 birth year is fairly accurate. There were Amos Polands in WV though, notably one b about 1818-19, in Hardy Co. in 1860, living near a 5-yr old Jeremiah who was living with a House family. Confusing, hmm? The census was taken in Aug in Hampshire Co. and in Jul in Hardy Co., so it's even possible these boys are the same Jeremiah. I have seen that happen before! Hannah S. Poland, 15, was in the home of John Hanna (or Hannas?) in 1860, in Romney. --- chuck owens <cancertech7@yahoo.com> wrote: > > I'm looking for any info on Amos Poland born > about 1805 in the > Hampshire, VA area. 3. Hi, Do you have any details on the 5 year old Jeremiah Poland living with the House family in the 1860 Hardy County, WV census and the Poland household near him? I suspect that he could be my Jeremiah Poland who is in the 1860 Hampshire, WV Census with the Shanholtzers and Pattersons. Amos Poland born 1819-1820 is probably related to my Amos born about 1805 in some way. Hanna S. Poland in 1860 living with John Hannas is Jeremiah's sister. Amos Poland died sometime between 1855 and 1859, and Deborah Poland married John Hannas. With him, she had two more children: Solomon "Soll" Hannas and Lear Hannas.
