I am in no way critizing Wayne as he goes far beyond what is expected. I just suggested that maybe the Hampshire County Historical Society could be of some help as in other areas Historical Societies really work on the cemeteries. Greetings one and all. I have written a few people here in the county that I feel have some knowledge of the Hampshire County Historical Society to see if there is a problem with people joining the HCHS or is there just a problem or no committee or no one to follow up the membership of new members. Most of the people that work with the HCHS are by what I see, people that meet once a month or so, some work at the library, many retired and many are members that do mainly their own research. The Hampshire County 250 meets one every other month. And I believe they just met this last week. So it will be some time before they meet again. I don't offically work with the HCHS, but when I go door to door looking for cemetery, I mention the HCHS and the cemetery project, and people open up a little. They are setting up a demonstration on the Hampshire County Cemetery Project on December 14th from 10 to Noon at the Capon Bridge Library (a Saturday). So anyone wanting to see the project and what I have been doing, please stop by, but I don't have a clue what I'm going to be showing or even let alone talking about for 2 hours. I guess it is just a 2 hour plan. I will show the website, show some of the local cemeteries, get people involved, and I figure most of the people that actually do show up will be interested and maybe I can get some people in inventory some of the larger cemeteries. The Fairview Cemetery Committee is attempting to plat the present cemetery. I have been trying to contact the committee, but there has been no response yet. I'm including this cemetery as there are many Hampshire Co. individuals buried there. Write when you can.
