Greetings one and all. Today I headed out with good intentions on finding the LONG Family Cemetery in Springfield. I have promised people that I would locate it the next time I got to that area. My website shows that the LONG Cemetery is in the Springfield area, but I couldn't find it. I have looked in several books, but can't locate it. I found the Old Long Farm, I found Long Rd., but no cemetery. I talked with people along the road, but no one knows of the cemetery. This will take some time, but I will find it. Then I tried to locate the Graveyard Hollow Cemetery also in the Springfield area, drove around a bit, bumpy dirty road, but I couldn't find it. I did manage to find the Kuykendall-Blue Cemetery. This cemetery had a 3 foot or so stone fence around it with a iron gate. The cemetery is need of repair. Several stones have been knocked down or have fallen down, but need to be fixed. A couple pieces of the markers are outside the stone fence. There is no trash in the cemetery, but appears the damage may be caused from hunters using the wall as a blind for hunting deer, maybe. http://members.citynet.net/rwayne/hampco/kuykend1.htm KUYKENDALL Family Cemetery. Have a good night, and happy trails. I will try and get out tomorrow to try and find the LONG Cemetery again, maybe, if it doesn't rain again.
