So all, thanks for all the help with the Rainey/Miller section of my research. I have another question. Was there a school for the blind near where these folks were staying? There were a few children of these families that were born blind....I'm just wondering.....(I've gotten in trouble doing this before) ....if there could be a connection. If they possibly went down there for that reason.... Becky
There's been one in Romney since 1870. Becky. I have been trying to locate a Tommy Long Rainey that married a Janie. I don't know Janies maiden name, but I believe they lived in NC or SC. Becky, The W.Va. School for the Deaf & Blind is located in Romney. I don't know exactly when it was established, but I believe sometime in the late 19th Century. It is large and sits along Main St. (U.S.50) in town. They, of course, board the students, but some out-of-the-area families sometimes move close by.
