I read it as Mary Davis is the daughter of Elizabeth Gummerson. There should be nothing implied by Edmund Butler being the administrator of the estate - ie it doesn't mean that he was a previous husband, and probably not. Perhaps a neighbor or family friend, or brother-in-law, etc. Your Mary's maiden name is most likely Gummerson. Sharon
