    3. For Jeremiah Smith grave: Take US Route 50 west out of Winchester toward Gore and WV line. About 12 miles from Winchester, VA you will see on the right an historic highway marker for Willow Shade, the home of Willa Cather. Just past this sign- maybe 1/8 mile, you will cross Back Creek via bridge, and just beyond the bridge, take first dirt road on the right and stay on it until you arrive at the cemetery. It will be about 1/3 to 1/2 mile on the dirst road ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doug Park - The Mystical Gravehunter" <ParkeFamilyHeritage@charter.net> To: <WVHAMPSH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 21, 2004 11:22 AM Subject: [WVHAMPSH-L] Capt Jeremiah Smith (1711-1787) Burial Place & Enoch Park (1794-1859) Homestead > Hampshire/Frederick County Friends, > > My father and I will be returning to Frederick County, VA and > Hampshire/Hardy Counties, WV in early April and we need help with detailed > directions to the burial place of Capt Jeremiah Smith (1711-1787) and other > early settlers (100 or more graves there, most unmarked). > > According to Dr. Kerns, in his book "Frederick County, Virginia: Settlement > and Some First Families of Back Creek Valley, 1730-1830--this site is "just > north of U.S. Route 50 on the west side of Back Creek near Gore, VA", but I > don't know exactly where or how to get there. > > Also, in Hardy County, I am looking for anyone with information on the > homestead (including exact location) of Enoch Park (1794-1859) m.
