Since that was posted, I've discovered more information about the officers of the militia unit, and also the individual tax details of both the original John Wolford in Hampshire county and the Maryland John Wolford (that died there). I'll post that here if anyone is interested. Exactly WHERE John lived in Hampshire ("Upper District" in the tax records is pretty vague and the land might currently be in a neighboring daughter county) and exactly where and when he married Elizabeth Woolever is still a mystery.
