If the assistant told you that since it was an election year they may not get to your request, I hope you will write a letter to the editor and put that quote in the letter with the hope that it will bring a candidate forward whose goal would be to serve the public at all times. As an elected clerk of court in another state, I am chagrined and apalled that any clerk or assistant would make such a statement. Our duty from the moment we take the oath of office until the last minute we are on the job is to perform the duties of the office and to make certain that ALL CITIZENS are given equal service and treatment under the law. You campaign on your personal time, not the public's time. Michael M.
