Folks, I'm working on an index to the 1930 Hampshire county census. I'll upload each district as I finish it. Bloomery will be first. You get name, age, sex, race, page number and family number on that page. BUT! You'll really need to be creative with this thing. It's obvious that educational standards have been on a downward spiral much longer than is popularly supposed. (g) The Shaffnaker family for whom the mountain is named is appearing as Shaffmaker or Schaffmaker. Given names fare worse. Family numbers turn out to be non-unique because it's apparent the enumerator misunderstood the definition of "family". In all columns a few things have been written over by either the enumerator or the Bureau and are close to illegible. I'll try to standardize spellings later on, but right now, any index is better'n none. Very few people own a radio so far -- mostly older couples.
