    1. [WVHAMPSH-L] Re: [WVRANDOL-L] Wolford
    2. I don't have a Calvin Wolford in my database, but I am wondering if Calvin is his middle name...and he was went by that. That is always confusing esp with stubborn ancestors. What I have on Abraham's son John is: 1. John WOLFORD, b. 1823 in West Virginia, (son of Abraham WOLFORD and Margaret SUMMERFIELD). He married Fatama SMITH, 14 Jan 1844 in Randolph County, West Virginia, b. 1816 in West Virginia/Virginia, (daughter of Charles SMITH and Hannah Susan CARR). Children: 2. i Susan WOLFORD, b. 1845 in Randolph County, West Virginia. 3. ii Elizabeth WOLFORD, b. 1847 in Randolph County, West Virginia. 4. iii Abraham WOLFORD b. Mar 1848. 5. iv Isaac T WOLFORD b. Oct 1850. 6. v Aaron WOLFORD b. 25 Oct 1854. 7. vi Eunice WOLFORD, b. 1855 in Randolph or Tucker County, West Virginia. 8. vii Polly WOLFORD, b. 1864 in Randolph or Tucker County, West Virginia. 9. viii Mary WOLFORD, b. 1867 in Randolph or Tucker County, West Virginia. As you can see, Calvin's birth date would fit in nicely. Have I seen him? Obviously not... Is he being stubborn on purpose? A lot of Wolfords do that. I think it's genetic. <G> Word of warning: there are a LOT of John Wolford's in WV. Counting JUST the Randolph/Tucker/Grant Wolfords from John Wolford b 1754, and going down 3 generations: there are nine. (We're not counting all the Hampshire County Wolfords because--fortunately--there's not a Dry Fork there that I know of.) Let me know if I can be of further help or if you want to trade copies of documents.
