Susan, I didn't find any Rhodes or Bowmans in the article, but the lists are by no means inclusive - my own ancestor, George Core, was not included even though he took out a Fairfax lease in 1773. Leases were considered a private transaction, and they may have appeared among Fairfax's personal financial papers without ever being recorded in the county records. George Core's lease was not recorded in the county records in 1773, but it was recorded when he re-leased it to Andrew Pancake in 1777. I recall seeing some Rhodes and Bowman records in Shenandoah and old Frederick Co., VA records - there were Mennonite families with these names in the area. A Mennonite preacher named Rhodes was murdered by Indians, and one of the Bowmans was kidnapped, I believe. Brian Brian D. Core P.O.
