    1. Re: [WVHAMPSH-L] McCullough research
    2. Elizabeth, There were som McCullough's there Hampshire County, WV that were close to Ashby's and Inskeep's. I wish I could draw a picture of these connections but here's a stab on a verbose basis: 1) Thomas Newton Ashby m. Rose Children: Thomas m. Mary McCullough(sister of Hannah Mccullough who married Joseph Inskeep and John McCullough m. Sarah Inskeep) John m. Jane Combs(their daughter Elizabeth married Col. John Peters).....John and Elizabeth Peters grandson John R. Peters m. Frances Simms....their children: 1) Mary Peters who married Martin Ringo(descendent of Albertus and Jane 'STOUTENBURG' Ringo- as were my Peters) 2) Augusta Peters m 1st James Inskeep (grandson of Hannah McCullough and Joseph Inskeep). Another grandson of Joseph and Hannah 'MCCULLOUGH' INSKEEP is John Inskeep VanMeter and lived next to my 4th GGrandfather Lt. Col. John Guthrie in Pike County, Ohio. His father purchased land from Mr. Guthrie. August Peters was born in Woodford County, KY. Robert m. Unknown (Robert's children Winifred Ashby m. James Peters and Nimrod Ashby as killed in 1764 - is this the same Nimrod Ashby killed by Indians with William Foreman??) My Ringo connection goes as follows: Albertus Ringo m. Jane Stoutenburg had Cathrina Ringo m. Elisha Bird had Effie Bird m. Reuben Pownall had Rachel Pownall m. John Peters May 19, 1779 had William D. Peters m. Lydia Guthrie (dau. of John Guthrie) To complicate matters, John Peters mother was a Mary Bird. We speculate that after John's father, James Peters, died in 1750/2, that she remarried to Stephen Ruddell. Stephen Ruddell is found to be in Woodford County, KY and died there about 1800. Now the above John and Sarah 'INSKEEP' McCullough might be a connection for you to check out. If you find anything let me know. 1. Re: [WVHAMPSH-L] McCullough research
    2. Dear David and John, Thank you so much for informing me that some of the Blue Ridge Mts. are in WV. Worked up a better listing of my four known generations of my McCullough family. In 1980 I published a book "Livingston Lines" and one chapter is on my McCullough family. From the census of 1900 of Falls Co., TX is where some of my data comes from on the syblins of Edward McC. The other data is from the booklet that Edward McC.'s son published on his father. And then some of this is backed up with my research. As a native Texan, I have taken advantage of opportunities to research there upon my return visits and a limited amount of help from some first cousins. I had much help from my mother as she too was very interested in her ancestry. Here is what I have pulled together of the four generations: 1. John McCullough, Sr. immigrated from Ireland. Have not found him listed on any ship. Reported by family to have come when John, Jr. was young. 2. John McCullough Jr. (b.7 Oct 1803-,,Ireland;d.1861) 3. Edward McCullough (b.15 Apr 1834-,Hampshire Co.,VA/WV;d.26 Jun 1902-Mooreville,Falls Co.,TX) sp: Sophia Irvin (b.1834-,Washington Co.,MO;m.5 Nov 1858;d.18 Nov 1861-,Newton Co.,MO) 4. Mary Allie McCullough (b.16 Jun 1861-,Newton,MO;d.10 Jun 1940-Groves,Jefferson,TX) sp: Lawrence L. Livingston (b.28 Jul 1855-Walker Springs,C,AL;m.18 Jan 1880;d.10 Oct 1920-Chilton,Falls,TX) 3. Thomas McCullough (b.May 1836-Maryland) sp: Sarah Rainey (b.Abt 1843-TN;m.1860) 3. Mary McCullough sp: S. L. Irvin 4. Irvin (b.Feb 1865-Ohio) 4. Irvin (b.Nov 1880-Ohio) 3. Margaret McCullough sp: Mears 3. Francis Frank McCullough sp: Melinda 3. Sarah McCullough Jr. sp: H. M. Douglas 3. John McCullough 3. Susan McCullough Jr My McCulloughs did not come in time to tie into your McCulloughs, but they may have been related since is is stated "Edward McCullough was a direct descendant from the McCullough family of historical note in old Virginia before that state was divided--he having been born in Hampshire county later West Virginia." What are your thoughts? Elizabeth
